PEMPix is not the only diagnosis competition that is held by the American Academy of Pediatrics‘ Section on Emergency Medicine. EmergiQuiz is a case-based presentation series that challenges the audience to think through the differential diagnosis for a complex case. Each year, four pediatric emergency medicine fellows are chosen from a large pool of submissions to present a case. Traditionally, these cases have been presented in person, two at a time during the Section on Emergency Medicine proceedings at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition. Because everything virtual this year we have elected to host EmergiQuiz online at EmergiQuiz.com. Marideth Rus, MD, MEd, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Emergency Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine is the EmergiQuiz chair for the section and did an astounding job bringing everything together this year.

Part 2 is now live on EmergiQuiz.com. This is where another fellow, who has received only a portion of the case in advance, takes the information the team had in the ED and works through the differential diagnosis. They then make the best guess on the final diagnosis.

Part 3 will arrive on Monday, September 28th.
