Things to know about PEMPix

  • PEMPix is the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Section on Emergency Medicine visual diagnosis competition
  • I am the coordinator and host
  • This presentation features some of the best visual media based pediatric cases around
  • I dress up in costumes to present PEMPix at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition
  • PEM stands for Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Pix is short for pictures and whomever though of the name thought it sounded clever to combine it with PEM because they must’ve liked alliteration

Anyway…

I am delighted to announce that the window for submitting cases to the 2022 PEMPix competition is now open! Use the form on PEMPix.com to submit all of your stuff. Cases can include photographs, radiographic images, or even videos. Remember, this is a visual diagnosis competition and the centerpiece of each case should be a compelling picture or video. At least one of the members of your submission team should be a member of the AAP’s Section on Emergency Medicine.

PEMPix 2022 will be presented in person at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition in Anaheim on Saturday, October 8, 2022

Everything you need to submit your case is on PEMPix.com – and the deadline to submit your case is Friday, June 17, 2022. This year a panel of experts in Pediatric Emergency Medicine will judge the submission and select 10 finalists to be presented at the AAP NCE, as well as three online cases posted to PEMBlog in advance of the conference. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the cases voted upon by the audience at the NCE and by the judges in advance of the conference. If you are new to PEMPix and want to see what the format is like, and how the case will be presented at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition check out this video.

We look forward to seeing what amazing cases will be submitted this year!
